About / How to Use This Course
The course is iteratively co-designed by Gavin and ChatGPT, as an example of AI-assisted technical enablement and course design. Gavin directs and reviews the work. ChatGPT supports research, teaching, and critique; Codex implements the publishing system.
Read the complete lesson first, then work through it interactively with an LLM, asking questions wherever something is unclear or interesting. Use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, another capable model, or no LLM at all. Downloadable Markdown makes it easy to bring a lesson into your preferred study tool.
Lessons are researched and written as the course progresses. Each published lesson has a web page, PDF, and Markdown source. The two activity types are Lessons and Labs. Labs may involve code, math, tooling, model inspection, paper reading, or experiments, and appear near the concepts they reinforce.
Explain ideas back, sketch mechanisms, and make predictions before experiments. Compare predictions with results and revise your explanation. Mathematics is introduced when useful. Optional resources appear under More Learning.
Private teaching and course-management records remain outside the published course. The public site serves any learner and does not track personal progress.
